About the stone: Opal

Pliny the Elder called opal the gem that carries all others inside it. Ancient Greeks believed they fell from heaven in flashes of lightning. From Australian boulder, Lightning Ridge black, Ethiopian crystal, to Mexican fire, to Peruvian pink, opals are full of mystery, evoking nebulae, the depths of the sea, and wonders yet-to-be-discovered. No two flash alike.

Care
The safest way to clean opal is with warm, soapy water. Avoid extreme hot or cold water - abrupt temperature changes can shock the stone resulting in cracks.
About the stone: Diamond

Pure carbon, crystallized a hundred miles down and delivered to the surface by ancient volcanoes. The hardest natural material there is; the name comes from the Greek adamas, unconquerable. HFJ favors the unconventional ones: black diamonds, blue diamonds, old mine cuts proportioned for candlelight.

Origins
Botswana, Russia, Canada, South Africa, India (historic)

Care
Diamonds can be cleaned safely with lint-free cloths, commercial jewelry cleaning solutions, and household detergents.

Harsher cleaning methods are not recommended for home use. These include powdered abrasive household cleansers, ultrasonic cleaners, and steam cleaners.
