About the stone: Opal

Pliny the Elder called opal the gem that carries all others inside it. Ancient Greeks believed they fell from heaven in flashes of lightning. From Australian boulder, Lightning Ridge black, Ethiopian crystal, to Mexican fire, to Peruvian pink, opals are full of mystery, evoking nebulae, the depths of the sea, and wonders yet-to-be-discovered.
