About the stone: Jade
Two minerals share the name, jadeite and nephrite, both tough enough to have been axe heads before they were ornaments. China has called it the stone of heaven for 3,000 years; Maori carve nephrite pounamu as treasure passed between generations. HFJ works with black jade, dense and lightless as ink. Cool to the touch and nearly unbreakable.
