About the stone: Agate

Part of the chalcedony family, agate comes in numerous varieties, each with its own character. With intriguing plays of transparency, striking ribbons of color, and fern-like dendrites formed from traces of iron and manganese, each stone is singular. No two pieces repeat, part of its intrinsic charm.

About the stone: Turquoise

From far reaching cultures such as those of ancient Egypt, China, and Native American Tribes, Turquoise has been treasured for millennia. Turquoise only forms in dry barren regions where copper-rich groundwater seeps down and reacts with minerals containing phosphorus and aluminum. Whether a clear field of striking color or the unique patterns of matrix, it's a stone with clear presence.

Type
Hydrated copper aluminum phosphate
Mohs hardness
5–6
Colors & varieties
Sky blue to green; Persian (even, matrix-free blue), Royston (golden-brown matrix)
Origins
Iran (Nishapur), United States (Nevada, Arizona), China, Egypt (Sinai, historic)

Care
Turquoise can be damaged by acids, and it can be discolored by certain chemicals, cosmetics and even skin oils or perspiration. It’s safe to clean turquoise jewelry with warm, soapy water, but it should never be cleaned with steam or ultrasonic cleaners. Heat or solvents can damage the treated surfaces on some turquoise.
